Reverend John F. Ashe, 85, of Middletown, passed away on Friday, December 16th at Waters Edge Center for Health. A retired priest of the Diocese of Norwich. Born on September 2nd, 1937 in Hartford, son of the late John and Rita (Buckley) Ashe. Fr. John was a former pastor of St. Mary's Church, Portland for many years. Fr. John is survived by 3 brothers: Fr. Joseph Ashe, Tom Ashe, Jim Ashe.

Visitation will be held beginning at 5 pm on Thursday, December 29th at St. Mary's Church, Portland until 7 p.m., at which time a Parish Mass will be celebrated for his repose. The Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 30th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Portland by the Most Reverend Michael R. Cote, Bishop of Norwich. Burial will be private in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Rockville, CT. The Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 231 Main St., Portland is in charge of arrangements.
