I was born and raised in Middletown and began my career in the funeral profession in 1978. I am a graduate of the Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse, NY, Class of 1979. After apprenticeship and employment with other funeral homes, I returned to Middletown in 1984 and purchased Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home in Middletown. In February of 2017 I purchased Portland Memorial Funeral Home and completely renovated the property to better serve families with modern updates and new staff.
I have been a funeral director for over 35 years and take great pride in serving all of Middlesex County. I gladly serve families with over three decades of professional expertise, dedication to 24 hour service, and-most importantly-compassion. Allow me the privilege of caring for your family during your time of need.
From Melissa Owens, Portland:
“Unfortunately, my grandpa is under hospice care and our family needed to pre plan funeral arrangements. We went to Portland Funeral Home. I was so impressed with the new owner on how much he has upgraded the facility in the short year he has owned it. I had no idea it had even changed ownership. Everything has been updated and it is just beautiful. He understood our "budget" and worked with it wonderfully. It's so hard to lose our loved ones but having such a lovely man take care of our town in this way is so wonderful. It is a profession that goes unnoticed at times and I wanted to profess my gratitude in the manner he has helped us so far.”
