Guido Abramo, 88, of Portland, passed away peacefully at his home on April 19th surrounded by family. Born on July 17th, 1937 to the late Elvira Misenti and Sebastian Abramo in Middletown, Connecticut, Guido cherished his hometown and often delighted those around him with stories from his youth. After graduating from high school, he honorably served his country as a Sergeant in the National Guard.
In 1962, Guido married the love of his life, Barbara (Uguccioni), with whom he shared 63 devoted years. Together they built a close-knit family. Guido was a loving father to Paul Abramo and his wife Carolyn of Glastonbury; Lisa Keohane and her husband Gerry of Franklin, Massachusetts; and Marc Abramo of Middletown. He was a proud and beloved grandfather to Dominic, Timothy, Christopher, Peter, Matthew, and Abigail.
He is also survived by his sister, Gina Abramo Fredricks of Middlefield, predeceased by his brother Robert Abramo, and his brother Raymond Santostefano of Middletown. He is remembered fondly as a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Baseball was Guido’s lifelong passion. He attended the University of Hartford, where he played baseball, and was a devoted New York Yankees fan for decades. Guido cherished memories of summers spent playing sandlot baseball with friends in Middletown and attending games in New York as a boy—stories he loved to share with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Guido leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and lasting memories. His stories of Middletown, baseball, and his love of life will be treasured always by his family and friends.
